Letter: Utah Republicans are right about reducing greenhouse gas emissions

I share the belief expressed in the column, signed by 24 prominent Utah Republicans, that climate action needs Republican engagement. They believe the best way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is to impose an emissions fee that gives the private sector a price signal. They support the repayment of all fees imposed on the American people. They support a boundary adjustment to encourage global action and prevent foreign interests from playing our system.

Fortunately, HR2307, the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act, which was unveiled in Congress earlier this year, does all of this. It’s the fastest, fairest, and most cost-effective response to climate change that I know of.

I encourage the rest of the column signatories to follow the lead of Rep. Ray Ward, R-Bountiful, and support HR2307.
