OGDEN – A man whom police believe tried to cover up a murder in Ogden was arrested.

Barry Lenard Bingham, 41, of Bluffdale, was tried in the 2nd District Court Tuesday on two counts of obstruction of justice, a second degree felony.

On October 2, shortly after midnight, police were called to an apartment at 240 N. 180 East, where a 30-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound. The man’s identity was not known until Tuesday.

The gunman, who has not yet been charged, escaped in a car he’d left in Perry, according to police.

“When the vehicle was recovered, it appeared to have been sprayed inside and out with a liquid substance, possibly bleach. The inside and outside of the vehicle also looked like it had been wiped off. This is a method that is used to destroy or corrupt evidence. ” “, It says in the indictment.

Detectives developed information that Bingham was the person who sprayed the vehicle with “detergent for the purpose of destroying evidence of the murder,” the prosecution said.

Police also believe that Bingham took the shooter to an undisclosed location in southern Utah after the shooting to avoid arrest.

Investigators located Bingham in Ogden on Friday and arrested him after stopping him.
