BirdCast Alerts lists the migration forecast for the next two nights as “High”. A “High” rating means there is an estimated over 2,000 birds flying through Salt Lake City.

Light pollution is a threat to migratory birds as it attracts and disorientates them in flight. According to BirdCast, up to 988 million birds die each year in collisions with buildings on the train.

“Turning off lights dramatically reduces the dangers of attraction and disorientation from light and enables birds to safely continue their migration journeys,” writes BirdCast.
